This has been a fun project as part of doing the team and individual photo's for the Dubuque Hempstead Mustang football program. I do an extra shot of the player in their position stance and assemble them all together as they would be on the field.

Mustangs win shut-out against cross town rival Wahlert

The Hempstead Mustangs played a shut-out game against cross town rival Wahlert 21-0 in an exciting match-up at Dalzell Field in Dubuque, Iowa.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Recently got to visit Ontonagon, MI with Mom and a few of her cousins - all born and spent time there on the shores of Lake Superior. It was great spending time with some of the family elders.

That's My Dog!

I spent time with a That's My Dog training class this past Saturday where the dogs learn obedience skills like staying, coming when called, heeling, and socialization - skills that enable both dog and human to have a better relationship with each other, with other dogs and people that they aren't familiar with. It is a great experience to see and is thoroughly enjoyable to photograph. More images are available at my online gallery.

2010 Iowa Shrine Bowl

This year the opportunity arose to photograph the Iowa Shrine Bowl at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. The past two years I have been photographing Mustang Football in Dubuque, Iowa.  Both the Head Coach of the Mustangs and his son were voted to participate on the North team. What a great event to witness, the atmosphere was celebratory with a positive vibe from all who were there. 

"The Iowa Shrine Bowl Game is an all-star football game between selected pre-college football athletes on each side of a north-south dividing line in Iowa. The game brings honor and recognition to the players, their schools and their communities. It has also been an effective tool in raising money for Shriners Hospital For Children." A Moment in Time

I took a peak into a nest to see if perhaps there were any blue eggs. These two baby robins perked up at my approach and lifted their heads readied for the catch of the morning. Seemed a fitting submission to A Moment in Time project I read about later that day.

The Tower Bridge in London. This leg of the trip was made on foot, and mostly after dark. The imagination runs as we wander to and fro on little winding cobblestone streets and busy thoroughfares. A sense of history with every step.

Fishermen weave their way in and out of the ice sheets casting for fish on the Mississippi River south of Lock and Dam 11 in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Reigns Band CD Package Design

Just finished up this project for The Reigns Band who will be having their CD release party later this month. Way to go Reigns Band!  I utilized images I had made from a live show and integrated some previously captured images for the cover collage. The band logo on the disk was derived from one of the images used in the cover.  The back cover photo was supplied by the band.

The gallery has been updated and now includes a favorite, American White Pelicans. This group stopped off on a bit of sand bar on their migratory path along the Mississippi River. The "horn" on their upper bill appears during mating season.

Hot & Cool

I sought these ferns out as a backdrop for a commissioned birth announcement. While this image wasn't quite right for the project it speaks to me through the texture of the new leaves unfurling and the greeeeeeen of life. Especially during these frigid days of January.
